Milena Cardigan

This is one of the first pieces in our new "Sweater Dressed" line by Ezra Descarfino and Dax Meazell. The Milena Cardigan is 100% baby alpaca and retails for $235. Two braided cables highlight the front, back and sleeves. Other details include an eyelet stitch down the back and full front pockets. Shown in a rusty marled yarn which also has green, gold and ochre tones. Also comes in heather blue marl. We direct-source this sweater with a small, woman-owned knitting workshop in Peru.

Indian Plaid Scarf

Here is a really beautiful design called the "Indian Plaid" Scarf. This was a special request from our customer. We have to give a lot of credit to the weavers for interpreting the arrangement of the warps and wefts so well. The eye dances between the diamonds (high contrast) and squares (low contrast).

Ruffle Scarves

These are "Ruffle Scarves". They are woven like regular scarves, but are then hand-pleated and stitched after weaving. This gives the fabric an undulating, ruffly drape. Because the pleats gather the fabric, these scarves are about twice as long when they come off the loom. One of the designs has four broad stripes, the other more narrow stripes which repeat.

new plaid scarves

After a long interval of no new items, we finally have some new stuff we're excited about. These are some of the 100% baby alpaca scarves we made for a menswear company with a chain of stores in the south and NYC. This company provided us with the designs and then selected the colors from the mill's swatch book. The weavers sourced these yarns from the mill and proceeded to weave the scarves according to the customer's specifications. They came out really nice!

Kermit and Sacajawea

The chilly spring wind whipping off the Columbia River inspired Ezra to bundle up, and then take flight. She's soaring in several Dax Alpaca garments and accessories. The green cardigan with cabling and honeycomb stitch is called the "Kermit." This is a unisex style and is 100% alpaca. The golden-hued scarf about her neck is handloomed in Bolivia of 100% alpaca (dimensions 25" x 84"). Finally, she keeps some ballast in her handbag- handmade of strips of homespun woolen cloth woven together to form a mosaic. We are excited about springtime!

Python Hat

This is the Python Hat. It's one of our most popular styles over the last few years. This is one of our new colorways that Ezra and I designed together. In the photo, Ezra combines the Python Hat with a brocade shawl by Lucas (see post from March 9). This hat is knitted double thickness, so it is very warm (and soft, of course). It is also great for guys!

Sugar Glider Sweater

This is the Sugar Glider Sweater. It has an unusual and intriguing shape since it's knitted sideways. Cabling, applique and honeycomb stitches create yummy textures. Made with a double thick 100% alpaca yarn, this sweater is as warm as it is comfortable. This was a collaborative design by Ezra Descarfino and Dax Alpaca. (model Ezra D.)
